(IQHA) was proud to once again showcase Western horsemanship at the 2025 Cowboys & Heroes Country Music & Americana Festival, held over the June Bank Holiday weekend in Drumcoura City, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. Spanning four incredible days, the festival attracted thousands of people and the IQHA riders were front and centre.

Throughout the weekend, IQHA Western Demos drew large crowds with exciting displays of Western riding disciplines, featuring both adult and youth riders, including some past Team Ireland Youth members. From patterns aspects to trail challenges, audiences were treated to a range of performances with informative explanations from Mr. Ron Weisz (Owner and proprietor) expertly engaging the audience and showcasing the skill, connection, and style that define Western horsemanship.

A special mention goes to the talented youth riders, who impressed spectators with their

confidence and control. Not forgetting to add in some thrilling barrel racing displays of course! Their participation reflected the IQHA’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of Western riders and offering them opportunities to grow and shine on public stages.

Sunday brought extra excitement with the Cowboys & Heroes Barrel Racing Final, a fast paced crowd favourite that delivered all the thrills and adrenaline of true speed event! Riders and their horses left nothing to chance as they raced through the cloverleaf pattern at speed, cheered on by a lively and enthusiastic audience.

Adding to the atmosphere were horse and pony rides on Saturday, giving both young and old festival goers a chance to enjoy their first taste of life in the saddle. It was a definite hit with families and helped introduce children to the joy of horses in a safe and fun environment.

On Monday’s Family Day, the fun continued with more horse and pony rides, ensuring the long weekend closed out with smiles all around. It was the perfect way to wrap up a memorable festival, with kids laughing, horses shining, and families enjoying quality time together.

With the incredible Western backdrop of Drumcoura City, complete with saloon, arena, and log cabins, the event was a great success. The IQHA is proud to have played a part and sincere thanks to Mr. Ron Weisz and Mr. Simon Power for their time, facility and generosity.
